Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, Alaska’s “Last Great Race on Earth,” kicks off in Anchorage this March. Mushers and their dog teams tackle 1,700 km of harsh, breathtaking terrain to reach Nome, facing sub-zero temps, blizzards, and historic trails once used by Native Alaskans and gold rush pioneers. A true test of endurance, teamwork, and sled dog strength, the race celebrates Alaska’s rugged spirit and storied dog sledding tradition. Congratulations to Jessie Holmes, this year’s winner, and Michelle Philips, the first woman to reach Nome in the 2026 race!
