Curacao Highlights CURACAO General Information Photo Gallery (Under Construction) General Information Located just off the coast of Venezuela, Curaçao is one of the “ABC Islands” (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao) in the southern Caribbean. Part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the island is famous for its colorful Dutch colonial architecture, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and warm, welcoming culture. The capital city, Willemstad, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its iconic waterfront lined by brightly painted buildings that make it one of the most photographed places in the Caribbean. One of the highlights is to walk across the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge, explore historic forts, shop in local markets, or simply enjoy the relaxed island atmosphere. Curaçao is a paradise for beach lovers, and divers, offering more than 35 beautiful beaches, world-class snorkeling, vibrant coral reefs, and abundant marine life. Great nighlife and lots of entertainment, Popular spots include Playa Kenepa, Cas Abao Beach, and the famous Blue Room sea cave. Nature enthusiasts can also explore Christoffel National Park or visit Shete Boka National Park, where dramatic waves crash against rugged limestone cliffs and Boca Tabla. The island’s cuisine is a flavorful blend of Caribbean, Dutch, Latin American, and African influences, making it a wonderful destination for food lovers as well. For me, Curaçao is more than just a beautiful vacation destination. As a young Marine in the 1970s, I was fortunate enough to be stationed on the island. This gave me memories that have stayed with me for a lifetime. It was an unforgettable place to live, serve, and experience a unique blend of cultures and natural beauty. 2.
