Africa & Middle East Explore this region: Select a page Africa Middle East AFRICA, After 4.5 years in Africa, we realized that we could easily have spent another four years exploring and still not visited all the places we would have liked to see. Africa is an incredible continent, unlike any of the other six continents. It is immensely rich in culture, wildlife, and history, which makes it a truly unique destination. Many overlanders say that once you have experienced Africa, you will always return — and we can certainly understand why. As the world’s second-largest continent, Africa covers just over 20% of the Earth’s land surface. For us, the major attractions were its extraordinary wildlife and the countless diverse cultures and religions found across its vast landscapes. We made it to the southernmost point of Africa, Cape Agulhas, although unfortunately we never reached the northernmost point, Ras Ben Sakka. From north to south, Africa stretches approximately 8,000 km, and from east to west about 7,500 km, with the Equator running roughly through its center. Africa’s climate is remarkably diverse, ranging from tropical to subarctic conditions. The north is dominated by vast deserts and arid landscapes, while central regions are characterized by savannas and dense rainforests. The continent also boasts the largest variety of free-roaming wildlife in the world, including iconic species such as lions, cheetahs, buffalo, camels, and giraffes. This unmatched natural diversity, combined with its rich cultural heritage, makes Africa a continent that leaves a lasting impression on all who experience it. https://www.doubledutchworldsafari.au/our-journey/africa/ https://www.doubledutchworldsafari.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Part-2-Overland-Around-the-World.-AFRICA-Made-with-Clipchamp-2.mp4 MIDDLE EAST The Middle East is a region located primarily in western Asia. In the early days it was also called the Near East. It is a little confusing but I see it as follows. The western Border of the Middle East is Lebanon, Israel, Jordan Saudi Arabia covering all countries in between till Iran? Right or wrong I am not sure. In our case we travelled Saudi Arabia-Jordan-Syria and have made numerous stopovers in Dubai flying home to Australia.
