Rwanda is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills” because of its stunning green landscapes. Located in East Africa, The capital city is Kigali. offering vibrant markets.

Rwanda’s history includes one of the darkest chapters of the 20th century.The Tutsi-led Rwandan Patriotic front started a civil war 1990. The presidents of Rwanda and Burundi, both Hutus, died together when their plane was shot down on April 1994. Social tensions erupted in the 1994 genocide, in which Hutu extremists killed an estimated 1 million Tutsi and moderate Hutu. (In just over 100 days!) Today, memorial sites across the country, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, honor the victims and educate visitors about the importance of peace, unity, and preventing future atrocities.

Other overland experiences were trekking through the lush forests of Volcanoes National Park to see the endangered mountain gorillas. You can also explore Nyungwe Forest National Park, home to chimpanzees and a spectacular canopy walkway, or relax along the shores of beautiful Lake Kivu. Rwanda’s national parks also provide opportunities for great bush camping and encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and many bird species.
