Kenya Highlights KENYA GENERAL INFORMATION VIDEO KENYA PHOTO GALLERY GENERAL INFORMATION Kenya, located on the eastern coast of Africa along the Indian Ocean, is one of the continent’s most popular travel destinations. The country is famous for its world-class safaris, with national parks and reserves home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo. The Maasai Mara is particularly well known for the annual Great Migration, one of the world’s greatest wildlife spectacles. (ALL THIS AT A VERY HIGH COST) But as independent overlanders we always were able to follow tracks in and bush camp without any cost. Overlanders can travel up north to the lake shores of Lake Turkana, at the El Molo villages and understand the mystery and strange lifestyles of the smallest tribes of Kenya, or to western Kenya to the Alego Nyangoma Kogelo village, ancestral home to the first black President of the US, Barack Obama. Better yet, the historic ruins of Swahili villages, Gede ruins down South and the Samburu woman’s village enroute to Marsabit. Beyond the savannahs, overlanders can explore Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest mountain, scenic lakes, forests, and rolling hills. Kenya is also home to more than 40 ethnic communities, each contributing unique traditions, music, art, and cuisine. Along the Indian Ocean, destinations such as Diani Beach, Watamu, and Malindi offer white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and excellent opportunities for remote bush camping, swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The capital, Nairobi, combines modern city life with nearby wildlife attractions, while the historic coastal city of Mombasa showcases a fascinating blend of African, Arab, Indian, and European influences. With a well-developed tourism industry, Kenya is an accessible and easy to overland destination. Whether you’re seeking off roading, bush camping, wildlife, cultural experiences, or a relaxing beach holiday, Kenya offers an unforgettable travel experience. 2. VIDEO COMPILATION 1.
