SIBERIA in Winter Robert Van Den Hoven, January 24, 2026January 24, 2026 NORTHERN RUSSIA IN WINTER (2012) Reaching the North Cape itself in winter is never guaranteed. Lucky we were allowed to follow the snowplow. Arriving in Northern Russia with day time temperatures of minus 30 dropping to minus –40°C, every decision mattered. Turn the engine off too long and it might never forgive you. Leave water in the wrong pipe and it would turn solid with a quiet, expensive snap. Our engine heater, Central heater, battery heater and water tank heaters run constantly. The roads surprised us. The main roads were plowed and passable, long ribbons of packed snow stretching toward the horizon. Frozen rivers turned into highways. Still, black ice waited patiently, and blizzards could erase the world in minutes. And yet, Overlanding Siberia in winter is amazing. https://www.doubledutchworldsafari.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/RUSSIA-SIBERIA-in-Winter-LOW-RESOLUTION-1.mp4 Latest Update
