Home Message from Robert and Clary “Welcome to our website! This space is for fellow overlanders planning their own global adventures and for our friends and family to follow our journey. Unlike the growing number of commercial overlanders who sell stories, books, and media content, we travel the world purely for the joy of exploration—without any commercial intent. Our journey is fueled by passion, not profit.” Colombia Our Journey Around the World 🌍 For 50 years, (Nov 2025) we’ve explored 144 countries across the globe. We’ve been living on the road for 21 years, ever since 2004, when we began driving around the world in our expedition vehicle. In the early years 2004-2020, our rhythm was 9 months of travel and 3 months at home.Since 2020, we’ve shifted to a balanced pace — 6 months on the road and 6 months at home. We’re not commercial overlanders; we simply want to share the beauty of this world and showcase the incredible places worth exploring.  India Potala Palace Tibet India Army Tibet and Pakistan border There’s something magical about traveling overland in an expedition vehicle, slowly winding our way through the heart of each country. The roads, the landscapes, the towns we pass through—they don’t just blur by; they become part of our story. This way of traveling lets us connect deeply with the people we meet, taste their food, hear their stories, and feel the rhythms of their daily lives—experiences that traditional travel can never fully capture. Since 1984, we have roamed the rugged landscapes of Australia, exploring off-road tracks during holidays and as proud members of various 4WD clubs. Robert has been at the heart of many of these adventures, serving as trip coordinator and organizer for challenging 4WD expeditions with the Toyota LandCruiser Club of Brisbane. From navigating the wet-season wilderness of the Kimberleys and Cape York to braving the scorching summer deserts, he has led unforgettable journeys that test endurance, skill, and the spirit of adventure. OFF ROAD IN AUSTRALIA 1981–1984: After four years of working in the heart of the Australian outback, Every day was an adventure—crossing rugged terrain, reading the land, and learning to thrive where few dare to go. I developed extensive experience navigating and surviving in remote regions of Australia. 1985-2004: my passion for off-road exploration led me to join several 4WD clubs, eventually becoming a member of the Toyota Landcruiser Club. I quickly took on leadership roles, first as Trip Leader and later as Outings Coordinator. Over the years, I guided fellow adventurers on weekend off-road escapes, as well as epic month-long expeditions into the deserts, the untamed Kimberley’s, and the wet-season wilds of Cape York. From isolated islands to remote wilderness regions, I have led countless journeys where teamwork, resilience, and a love for exploration were the keys to success. Every trip was not just a drive, but a deep dive into the untamed beauty of Australia’s most spectacular landscapes.   OFF ROAD IN AUSTRALIA OFF ROAD IN AUSTRALIA OFF ROAD IN AUSTRALIA OFF ROAD IN AUSTRALIA During our four-year journey, a dream began to take shape—an off-road adventure around the world. In 2009, we shipped our brand-new truck from Brisbane, (Australia) to Durban, South Africa, marking the start of what would become a life-changing expedition. While waiting for our truck to arrive, we didn’t sit still. We rented a 4WD and set off on an unforgettable journey through the lush landscapes of Kalimantan, the wild jungles of Borneo, the vibrant culture of Sabah, and the serene beauty of Brunei. Each destination offered its own challenges and wonders, igniting our passion for exploration even further. Borneo Borneo Borneo Head hunter trophy,s Kalimatan Borneo On the morning of January 6, 2004, as we prepared to leave our house, a strange feeling settled over us—an awareness that we wouldn’t be back for at least nine months. Yet beneath that, there was an unmistakable rush of excitement, the kind that never fades whenever we buy a plane ticket, pack our bags, and set off to explore unfamiliar places.  Trouble Sudan and Ethiopia Trouble Sudan and Ethiopia Trouble Sudan and Ethiopia Crossing Pakistan and Afghanistan border area with army escortr Crossing Pakistan and Afghanistan border area with army escortr Border Tajikistan and Afghanistan During our four-year odyssey across Australia (2004–2009), a seed of a dream took root—an off-road adventure that would take us around the world. In 2009, we shipped our brand-new truck from Brisbane to Durban, South Africa, and with that, what was once a dream became a daring reality. While waiting for our truck to arrive in Africa, we refused to stay idle. We rented a 4WD and plunged into the wild heart of Borneo: the untamed jungles of Kalimantan, Driving off road in steaming rainforests, the vibrant, chaotic streets of Sabah, and the tranquil waterways of Brunei. Each landscape tested us, thrilled us, and deepened our hunger for exploration. Seventeen years ago, in 2009, we rolled out of our driveway armed with excitement, audacity, and just enough naivety to believe we could map a five-year journey around the globe. Our plan was tidy: nine months on the road, three months at home, leaving the truck behind wherever the world had stolen our hearts. The road laughed at our plans. Mountains blazed in the morning sun, deserts stretched into infinity beneath a merciless sky, and markets pulsed with colors and voices we couldn’t name. Each place tugged at us, whispering, stay a little longer. Borders blurred, calendars became meaningless, and the careful timetable we’d plotted dissolved like morning mist. What began as a finite adventure transformed into a life rewritten by discovery. We have slept under starlit skies in corners of the world few ever see, shared meals with strangers who became family, and found beauty where we never imagined it could exist. Seventeen years later, the truck remains our steadfast companion, the road our unrelenting teacher, and the world still unfurls before us—one unforgettable, horizon-chasing mile at a time.  Ethiopia Iran Pakistan security guard Chinese Road House Rough tracks over 6000 meters Meet the locals.
